Free Screens for Patients With a Prior Diagnosis of COVID-19
Did you have COVID and now can’t seem to shake the weakness, fatigue or mental fog? Physical therapy is an integral part of the recovery from COVID. Our therapists are highly skilled in treating fatigue and other post-COVID related symptoms. We can help by improving movement of your spine, ribs, and limbs to make breathing easier along with restoring function and improving strength and endurance.
How does Physical Therapy help Treat Post-COVID Symptoms?
COVID can result in remaining bed-bound and inactive. The long-term effects can be far reaching and can include weakness, fatigue and mental fog. The good news is your physical therapist can help. The purpose of the Post-COVID Free Screen is to identify patients with a prior diagnosis of COVID who have residual symptoms that warrant treatment by a physical therapist. COVID’s symptoms mimic many of the those found in other conditions we treat such as cardiovascular
disease, musculoskeletal impairment, and respiratory disease. Symptoms can include weakness, fatigue
and mental fog. Often the goal is to improve movement of the spine, ribs, and extremities to make breathing easier while helping to restore function through gradual exposure to cardiovascular exercise. Another common goal is improved strength and endurance via a supervised exercise program.
Patients with a prior diagnosis of COVID with any of the following residual symptoms are encouraged to take part in this free screen:
- Shortness of breath
- Generalized weakness
- Limited physical endurance
- Difficulty breathing while resting
- Loss of strength due to bed rest
- Difficulty standing from a seated position, walking, or performing daily activities
- Increases in pain
